Racial Equity in Action at California Community Colleges

Guided Pathways is an equity-focused framework that supports colleges as they establish clear paths for students and remove systemic barriers to their success. Stemming from our developmental evaluation of Guided Pathways that is supported by College Futures Foundation, this brief spotlights specific, practical, and actionable practices and strategies related to racial equity in Guided Pathways efforts that are unfolding at three California Community Colleges.

Specific examples from Norco College, Cuyamaca College, and Long Beach City College regarding what they are doing for and with students, faculty, staff, and at the institutional level to support and advance racial equity are presented. Facilitators to success, challenges they are currently experiencing, and advice for other colleges that are embarking on Guided Pathways efforts are also elevated.
