Transforming Learning by Centering Equity, Community, y Cultura

Recent focus on racial justice and equity has pushed evaluators to reflect on their practice. Is our practice truly inclusive, participatory, and community-centered? How can we push against white dominant evaluation norms that do not align with our equity values? This roundtable will share how Santa Ana Building Healthy Communities (SABHC), a community-based health equity initiative in California, embarked on a new evaluation process guided by Equitable Evaluation Framework™  principles. SABHC and Engage R+D will share the practices that transformed and “decolonized” data and evaluation, including 1) building trusting relationships by centering community and culture 2) unlearning traditional evaluation norms and practices, 3) embracing an experimental and emergent evaluation design, and 4) developing culturally grounded and participatory tools to capture the story of impact.
